Haint is taking a new step with his shadow boxes in this new work. The earlier pieces were layered in parallel planes and this new piece breaks out of that into a freer form.
The paper 'pipe' will run through several of the boxes on the lower level. The individual boxes are 1" deep, but the whole work will be 1.5" deep so there will be another layer to add when the entire piece is done.
Then Haint starts laying down gold and silver grids and grates for the back ground of the third and fourth boxes.
The curves are harder to make with the stiff mat board.
The close-up shows the organic curves made by using silver plates like scales.
